Does Slovakia use the Nice Classification?

Yes, the Slovak IP Office (ÚPVSR) uses the Nice Classification. This classification of goods and services is used by more than 150 countries and divides goods and services into one of 45 classes. The first 34 are reserved for goods, while the remaining 11 are used for services. A Slovak application must specify the relevant classes and list the goods or services.

The ÚPV SR expects goods and services to be described using accepted terminology. Using clear, standard terms, ideally drawn from the harmonized database used across EU offices, reduces the risk of a deficiency notice asking for clarification.
