In Slovakia, you register a trademark by filing an application with the ÚPVSR. You can do so electronically or via a paper application. The process is similar to most other European IP offices: file the application, wait for examination, wait for publication for oppositions, and if no objections or oppositions are raised, you'll receive your registration certificate.

The most important step before filing is submitting your brand name or logo for a free lawyer's check. This assessment confirms whether your brand is eligible for registration and identifies any potentially conflicting marks before you file.

Once the application is filed and the administrative fee is paid, the ÚPV SR examines it, publishes it in the Vestník ÚPV SR, and, if no opposition is filed within three months, enters it in the register and issues a certificate.
