Does a foreign applicant need to appoint a representative in Slovakia?

It depends on where the applicant is based. Applicants domiciled or seated within the EU or EEA can file directly with the ÚPV SR without a local representative.

Applicants domiciled outside the EU/EEA must appoint an authorized representative, a Slovak advocate or patent attorney, to act on their behalf in all proceedings before the office. This is a procedural requirement, not a restriction on who can hold a Slovak trademark.
