The average registration timeline for trademarks fully depends on the jurisdiction. Here are the most common ones:

  • US: 12 to 14 months
  • EU: approximately 4 months
  • UK: 4 to 5 months
  • Canada: 20 to 25 months
  • China: approximately 12 months
  • Australia: 6 to 7 months
  • New Zealand: approximately 5 months

Expedited options are available only in certain jurisdictions and under certain conditions. The EUIPO offers fast-track examination for applications using pre-approved TMclass terminology. The USPTO offers Track One prioritized examination only to certain applicants for an additional fee. In most other jurisdictions, there’s no readily available expedited option. Filing a complete, error-free application from the start is the most reliable way to avoid avoidable delays.
