How will I get notified about an office action?

If you have a legal representative on record, the IP office will typically notify them first, and your representatives will then forward the matter to you, along with their proposed solution.

The notification email includes the deadline for responding, which runs from the date of the office action, not the date of receipt. Acting on the notification promptly is important; waiting reduces the time available to prepare a quality response.
