Select only the classes that cover the goods and services your business actually offers or plans to offer under the mark in the near future. There is no benefit to filing in classes where you have no commercial activity, as those classes increase the cost and opposition risk, while also making you more vulnerable to non-use cancellations by third parties down the line.

For most small businesses, one to three classes covers the core commercial activity. Larger brands with diverse product and service lines may need more. The right number is the number that accurately reflects what the business does; no more, no less.
