If I apply for a trademark with a generic logo to increase distinctiveness, can I update the logo later?

No, once your trademark application has been filed, you cannot update or change the logo that you submitted as part of that application. The trademark register only reflects the exact logo or design that was originally filed, so any modifications made afterward are not automatically incorporated.

If you make significant changes or improvements to your logo and want those changes protected, you will need to file a completely new trademark application for the updated version. This ensures that the new logo is registered as a distinct mark with full legal protection.
