The main document you need for a trademark ownership transfer is an assignment agreement, signed by the new and current owners. This document outlines several things, namely, the trademark being transferred, the parties involved, the effective date, and the nature of the transfer.

Once signed, the assignment must then be submitted to the IP office where the trademark is registered. Some IP offices may require additional supporting documentation and government fees. Specific requirements vary by jurisdiction.
