Ownership of a Slovak trademark is transferred by a written assignment agreement and recorded on the register by filing a request with the ÚPV SR. The transfer takes effect against third parties once it is entered in the register.

The request should identify the mark by its registration number and the parties to the transfer (assignor and assignee), and be accompanied by evidence of the assignment. A recording fee applies.

A trademark can be transferred at any time, whether the application is still pending or the mark is already registered. Ownership can also be transferred from a company to an individual, or vice versa.
