International trademark registration is more complicated than it appears at first. Trademark rights are jurisdiction-specific and must be obtained separately in each country. You can do this via multiple applications on a national level, or through one bigger application via the Madrid protocol.

Costs and timelines vary from country to country. In the EU, registration takes 4-6 months, in the US it takes 12-14 months, and in some jurisdictions like Canada it can take up to 25 months. Government fees vary by jurisdiction and by the number of classes included.
