Yes, it is possible for two companies (or two individuals, proprietorships, etc.) to co-own a trademark.

One way of co-owning the rights is simply by filing the trademark with multiple owners, which is called joint ownership. Another one is forming a separate LLC, which will be the sole owner of the trademark. This way, should one of the companies be sold off, dissolved, undergo a merger, etc., the trademark ownership can stay unaffected.
