In general, a trademark protects different aspects of brands and their identity. You can trademark a brand or product name, logo, slogan, or tagline.

You always have to choose a territory or multiple territories where you want to protect your trademark. The protection only applies to the countries where the trademark is successfully registered.

Additionally, according to the Nice classification, your trademark will fall under one or more 45 classes of goods and services. For each trademark registration, one or more classes have to be chosen depending on what the brand does. For example, if you have a clothing brand, you would choose class 25, which encompasses clothing. Your brand would then be protected within the clothing industry.
