Does a trademark have to be the same as my business name?

No, a trademark does not need to match a registered business name. Trademark protection and business name registration are separate legal processes.

A company may operate under one legal name while trading under a completely different brand name. It is also possible to own multiple brands under the same company, each with its own trademark.

If your business name is not yet finalized, or if your company hasn't been formed yet, you can register the trademark under your personal name and transfer ownership to the company at a later stage.
