If you are applying for a trademark using the help of a legal representative and have to sign a Power of Attorney to allow them to represent you legally, you may have to have it notarized. This obligation is country-dependent, so it's best to check with your attorney or trademark registration provider to see what the requirements in your jurisdiction(s) are.
