Yes, the entire trademark opposition process does come with extra costs, since these aren’t covered in the initial filing fees.

If an opposition is filed against your application, or if you decide to file an opposition against someone else's mark, additional legal representation fees will apply. The total cost depends on the attorney's rate and the complexity of the case. In some jurisdictions, the opposing party or the IP office may also charge a government filing fee to initiate opposition proceedings. In fact, in some jurisdictions, those costs can easily exceed the original filing fees.

Some oppositions are resolved quickly through a co-existence agreement or other settlement; others proceed to full adversarial proceedings before the IP office. The latter can be significantly more expensive.
