If you decide not to proceed, the simplest option in most jurisdictions is to let the application lapse by not responding to any correspondence from the IP office. The application will be abandoned without any formal action required and without additional fees.

If you’d like to formally withdraw the application, you can submit a withdrawal or abandonment request to the relevant IP office (this includes an additional fee). This closes the application immediately and is on the public record. However, neither option will result in a refund of already paid filing fees.
