When should I register my trademark?
Timing is everything, and this is especially true when it comes to trademark registration. Choosing to trademark your brand at the right time is much more important than you would think.
Depending on your jurisdiction and how long ago the trademark lapsed, you may still be able to revive it.
In the EU and UK, there's a six-month grace period where you're able to review the trademark with an additional fee. After the period concludes, revival is no longer possible, and you have to file a new application.
In the US, an abandoned trademark can be revived by filing a petition with a valid explanation for the delay in renewing the mark and responding to the IP office. This option is only available within a limited window and is not guaranteed to succeed.
