Renewals typically take a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on where your trademark is registered. Since the mark is not re-examined at renewal, the process is administrative rather than evaluative, which is why it is faster than the original registration.

The trademark remains protected while the renewal is being processed, provided it was filed within the valid renewal window. There is no gap in protection between the expiry of the current term and confirmation of the new one.
