Is it possible to change ownership of a trademark while the application is still pending or after it has been granted?

Yes. Trademark ownership can be transferred at any point while the application is pending or after registration is complete. The process is the same in both cases: a signed assignment agreement is submitted to the IP office, which records the new owner on the register or the application file.

In the US, intent-to-use applications cannot generally be assigned before a Statement of Use is filed, except in connection with a transfer of the entire business to which the mark relates.
