Our product launch is in 1 month. Can we get a trademark by then to join Amazon Brand Registry?

Although a fully registered trademark takes months to get (depending on the country), fortunately, you only need a pending trademark to access Amazon Brand Registry.

Even then, the deadline of 1 month is challenging but could be met if:

  • Your mark is actually eligible for registration, and there are no issues with it that need addressing. Although you could submit it anyway, if it gets rejected by the intellectual property office, you might lose your Brand Registry access. The most common issues include low distinctiveness and high similarity to previously registered trademarks. We check for both of these issues during our 24H free lawyer's check.
  • If you are working with an attorney/law firm/online service, you have to account for the time it takes to prepare your application. Speaking for Trama, we usually start with the free lawyer's check mentioned above, and then, if the client wants to proceed with us, we can usually prepare the application in 3-5 business days after receiving the payment, depending on the number of back-and-forths with the client.

Please keep in mind that after filing your application, it usually takes the IPO an additional week or two to issue a working serial number.
