Does my EU trademark protect me globally or just within the EU?

An EU trademark only protects you in the EU. Since trademark rights are territorial, your registration in one jurisdiction doesn’t automatically translate to another.

If you want to protect your brand globally, you need to file separate trademark applications in each additional jurisdiction where protection is needed. You can do this either through direct national filings or through the Madrid System for multiple countries simultaneously.
