Would changing the colour of the rectangle on my logo make any difference in terms of registrability?

No, the colour will not make any difference in consideration of your trademark application. If your logo trademark is considered not registrable, a simple colour change wouldn't be considered enough of an alteration.

In this case, it is advisable to add an additional graphic element to your logo or, if there is a conflict with a similar trademark, remove the shared elements.
