Can you add more classes once you register a trademark?

No, you can't add classes to an existing trademark. Your trademark has been assessed during the registration process by the examiner, and adding more classes means a new assessment needs to be made to determine whether the trademark is distinctive enough in the context of the new classes and whether there is any relevant opposition in the new classes.

If you wish to expand your protection, you will have to file a new application. Therefore, we usually recommend entrepreneurs consider registering their trademark in classes they already know they will be expanding to in the near future.
