How do I add or remove a class from an existing EU trademark?

Classes cannot be added to an existing EU trademark registration. The scope of protection is fixed at the time of filing and cannot be expanded after the application has been submitted.

A class can be removed from a registration by filing a partial surrender with the EUIPO. A partial surrender permanently removes the specified class or specific goods and services from the registration and can be filed voluntarily by the owner at any time.

If protection is needed for additional classes not covered by the original registration, a new trademark application must be filed.
