In many countries, you can file a trademark application with multiple owners, so-called joint ownership or co-ownership. Unless stated otherwise, in joint ownership, the rights and responsibilities are equally shared between the trademark owners.

There might be multiple reasons for people to be interested in co-owing a trademark. For example, a manufacturer and distributor might want to equally share the ownership of one trademark.

However, to be able to file for joint ownership, each party must have control over the goods and services and their quality.
