Does an office action response cost anything?

In terms of the government fees, filing the response itself is usually free.

However, most applicants do not prepare the response themselves, but opt to resolve the office action via a representative, and their service fees apply. The cost depends on the complexity of the issue raised and the amount of legal work required. Simple corrections carry minimal cost; substantive responses to refusals on the likelihood of confusion or descriptiveness typically require more work.
