Can you add classes to an existing trademark?

No, once you submit your application to the IP office, you can't add more classes.

During the assessment, the examiner will evaluate whether you qualify for protection in the context of given classes, both on absolute grounds (is the mark merely descriptive of goods/services listed on the application?) and comparatively to other already registered trademarks (is the mark identical or confusingly similar to any trademark from given classes?) Therefore, adding classes would change the assessment.

If you decide to add more classes, you can only submit a new application.
