Trademark registration costs break down into two categories: government fees paid to the IP office, and representation fees if you use a legal service.

Government fees cover the application itself and are charged per class of goods and services in most jurisdictions. Some markets use stepped pricing, where the first one or two classes are charged at a standard rate and additional classes at a lower rate. Renewal fees, paid every 10 years, are a separate government charge.

Representation fees vary depending on whether you use a specialized trademark attorney, a law firm, or an online legal service. These cover preparation of the application, goods and services drafting, and handling of any office actions or correspondence with the IP office.
