Can I only use the ® with the exact version of the name/logo that was registered, or can I use it with different versions?

You can use the symbol ® exclusively with the version of your mark that is officially registered with an IP office, i.e. appears on your trademark certificate. You may start using this symbol only after your trademark passes the examination and the opposition process and is officially registered. It is not allowed to begin using the ® earlier.

If you decide to make small changes to your mark or use different iterations, it is still protected. However, you cannot use the symbol ®; you can use the symbol ™ instead.

Similarly, once you file your trademark application, you can start using the ™. It signifies that your mark is in the process of obtaining complete trademark protection. Using the ™ will help your customers distinguish your original brand from any copycats on the market.
