Since trademark databases managed by IP offices are public, anyone can search for pending trademarks that might infringe on the searcher's rights. Some IP offices also notify the trademark holder if the examiner comes across an application they consider confusingly similar.

However, to save time and be on the safe side, you might want to consider a trademark watch service. These services track new trademark applications and notify you of both identical and similar ones based on set criteria.
