Can a non-EU company register EU trademarks?

Yes. Non-EU companies and individuals can apply for and own EU trademarks. There is no requirement to be based in the EU to register a trademark with the EUIPO.

Non-EU/EEA applicants are required to appoint an authorized representative based in the EU or EEA to handle correspondence with the EUIPO. The trademark is registered in the applicant's name; the representative manages the procedural steps. Once registered, the EU trademark provides the same protection for non-EU owners as for EU-based ones.
