If you need more time to respond to an office action, you can submit the Request for Extension of Time to File a Response (ERP) form with the USPTO.
The official fee is $125 per request (excl. professional service fees). You can only submit one request per office action and the request has to be submitted for the most recently issued office action. The payment will award you 3 more months for responding.
